Research at CTAC

The primary aim at CTAC is to disseminate evidence-based, high-quality services to the families impacted with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities. The center’s secondary aim is to promote applied research in ABA and VB. The research studies at the center primarily evaluate effective teaching techniques that are based on Skinner’s Analysis of Verbal Behavior. The aim of the research studies and collaborations is: 1) Extension of Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior and radical behaviorism in teaching language and communication to early learners and 2) Examining the effective function-based techniques to build toleration for delay or denial of reinforcers in learners diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays.

There is a need for more research in the applied setting. The field of behavior analysis thrives on single subject research, which allows for gathering meaningful behavioral changes that occurs within subject. Research and practice go hand in hand in providing data-based information on effective treatment procedures.
